Using Deep Learning to Assess Heart Function in Children After COVID-19

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Deep learning detected subtle echocardiographic differences in children with PASC despite normal standard echocardiographic measures.

Evidence

A single-center case-control echocardiography study compared 270 children with PASC with 400 age-matched symptomatic controls and tested a ResNet-50 model.

Caveat

Standard echocardiographic parameters were normal, and the clinical significance of the subtle image-based differences remains uncertain.
