Updated

Abstract

Response rates for bright light therapy (BLT) were 81% in bipolar depression patients compared to 19% for dim light.

  • BLT was administered at 10,000 lux for 30 minutes every morning over two weeks.
  • Significant reductions in depression scores were observed for the BLT group compared to the dim light group on all assessment scales.
  • Remission rates were 44% for the BLT group and 12.5% for the dim light group.
  • Side effects were similar between groups, with headache being the most common.
