Effects of half vs. full intensity low-level red light on eye blood vessel thickness and structure

Updated

Abstract

Both 50% and 100% low-level red-light therapy resulted in significant increases in choroidal thickness in 27 participants.

  • Choroidal thickening occurred gradually over the treatment period.
  • No significant differences were observed in the effectiveness of the 50% versus 100% treatments.
  • Daily changes in choroidal thickness and vasculature were comparable between the two intensity levels.
  • The findings suggest that reduced intensity may maintain myopia control efficacy while lowering energy consumption.
