Effectiveness and safety of a natural metabolism booster (AXA1125) for long COVID with mainly fatigue: a small controlled trial

Updated

Abstract

Treatment with AXA1125 was associated with a significant reduction in fatigue score of 4.30 points compared to placebo.

  • No significant differences in skeletal muscle phosphocreatine recovery time constant or 6-min walk test results were observed between AXA1125 and placebo groups.
  • The study included 41 participants who were randomized to receive either AXA1125 or a matching placebo.
  • Treatment-emergent adverse events were reported by 52.4% of AXA1125 patients and 20.0% of placebo patients, but none were serious.
  • AXA1125 may improve fatigue symptoms in patients with fatigue-dominant Long COVID after four weeks of treatment.
  • Further multicentre studies are needed to confirm these findings in a larger group of patients.
