Efficient gene editors for precise, heritable changes to multiple soybean genes

Updated

Abstract

Essence

The optimized GmPEplus and CMMPE systems enabled more efficient heritable and multiplex prime editing in soybean.

Evidence

This plant genome-editing platform study engineered soybean prime editors and tested them in hairy roots and stable transgenic lines, reporting up to 81.3% editing efficiency, a 13.1-fold boost from an independent AtU6 cassette, and multiplex editing of 2-12 genes in hairy roots and up to 3 genes in stable lines.

Caveat

The results are platform performance data in soybean experimental systems, not evidence of breeding gains, field performance, or trait-level agricultural outcomes.
