Increase of a protein-making regulator by m6A modification speeds growth of lung artery muscle cells in rats with induced pulmonary hypertension
Updated
Abstract
Eukaryotic initiation factor 2α (eIF2α) is markedly upregulated in monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) rats.
- Upregulated eIF2α is linked to increased proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells in PAH.
- The regulatory mechanism of eIF2α involves mRNA methylation.
- Inhibition of eIF2α using GSK2606414 reduces its expression and decreases smooth muscle cell proliferation.
- Bioinformatics analysis reveals a common sequence between eIF2α mRNA and N 6-methyladenosine modification.
- Increased expression of METTL3, WTAP, and YTHDF1 is observed in monocrotaline-induced PAH rats.
