Gene Editing Using Electric Pulses in Haliotis Discus Hannai

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Electroporation delivered CRISPR/Cas9 components into abalone embryos and produced candidate MSTN edits.

Evidence

A marine mollusk gene-editing method experiment tested three MSTN sgRNAs, electroporated fertilized Haliotis discus hannai eggs, and sequenced surviving larvae after 24 hours.

Caveat

Electroporation damaged or deformed 12.7 +/- 5.4% of eggs, and only two potential mutations were identified in short-term larval sequencing.
