Higher abundance of Gram-negative bacteria was observed in obese and NASH patients compared to normal controls.

  • Obese and NASH patients had a higher incidence of endotoxemia than normal controls.
  • Serum endotoxin levels were higher in the NASH group compared to normal controls.
  • No significant difference in Gram-negative bacteria abundance was found between obese and NASH patients.
  • Low serum endotoxin levels were common among both NASH and obese patients.
  • No correlation was found between the abundance of Gram-negative bacteria and serum endotoxin levels.
