Extracellular vesicles (EVs) may provide new therapeutic options for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) due to their superior properties.
- CVDs are the leading cause of death globally.
- Current treatments for CVDs face challenges such as low bioavailability and drug resistance.
- EVs are lipid vesicles secreted by cells that are involved in the pathology of CVDs.
- Engineered EVs and EV mimics could address the limitations of traditional pharmacological interventions.
- The review discusses engineering strategies and potential applications of these engineered EVs and EV mimics in treating CVDs.
