Essence

This review argues that epigenetic clocks need to become simpler and more scalable while retaining their usefulness for measuring biological aging.

Evidence

This review summarizes DNA methylation clocks from multi-CpG research models such as Horvath, Hannum, PhenoAge, GrimAge, and DunedinPACE to simplified approaches including ELOVL2-based clocks, emphasizing predictive performance, clinical scalability, and direct-to-consumer translation.

Caveat

As a review and perspective piece, it does not present new validation data and notes that broader implementation still depends on maintaining accuracy across diverse populations.
