Abstract

Aplastic anemia (AA) is characterized by hypocellular bone marrow and a reduction in blood cells.

  • Intrinsic abnormalities in bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) may be linked to inadequate support for blood cell formation.
  • Cellular aging and chronic inflammation are associated with changes in BM-MSC function in AA.
  • Enhanced fat cell formation in the bone marrow could contribute to the disease's progression.
  • The epigenetic mechanisms behind BM-MSC abnormalities in AA are not yet fully understood.
  • This work aims to clarify the epigenetic factors involved in the failure of the bone marrow niche.
