Diabetic Ketoacidosis with Normal Blood Sugar Linked to Dulaglutide Use

Updated

Abstract

Dulaglutide use at a higher dose may lead to euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis in patients with type 2 diabetes.

  • Dulaglutide is associated with common adverse effects such as fatigue, nausea, and abdominal pain.
  • Case reports suggest that GLP-1 receptor agonists can lead to euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis, despite its typical association with SGLT2 inhibitors.
  • A patient experienced gastrointestinal symptoms and weakness after re-initiating dulaglutide at a higher dose.
  • Symptoms resolved following treatment with insulin and intravenous fluids.
