How Environmental Factors May Relate to Type 1 Diabetes: Review Plan

Updated

Abstract

A scoping review on the exposome related to type 1 diabetes (T1D) is set to analyze various environmental factors from November 2024 to November 2025.

  • The review will gather current knowledge on environmental exposures impacting the development and outcomes of T1D.
  • It is expected to highlight existing knowledge gaps in the relationship between the exposome and T1D.
  • The analysis will focus on specific external factors such as pollutants, diet, and infectious agents.
  • Young populations, including children and adolescents, as well as in utero exposure, may be particularly relevant to disease triggers.
  • The findings will be synthesized and presented to inform future research directions related to T1D.
