Female ob/ob mice do not lose muscle from semaglutide treatment

Updated

Abstract

Semaglutide had minimal effects on skeletal muscle mass and strength in ob/ob mice.

  • Female ob/ob mice showed complete resistance to muscle mass loss induced by semaglutide.
  • Weight loss from semaglutide did not significantly impact muscle function in either sex.
  • These findings suggest that semaglutide may produce different effects based on sex.
  • Further research is needed to understand the molecular mechanisms behind these protective outcomes.
