Abstract

Sleep deprivation may induce cognitive impairment associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis, which can be mitigated by flavonoid-rich Ficus pandurata angustifolia.

  • Flavonoid-rich Ficus pandurata angustifolia (FCF) alleviated cognitive deficits in a sleep-deprived mouse model.
  • FCF reversed gut microbiota dysbiosis by increasing beneficial bacteria and reducing harmful ones.
  • Production of short-chain fatty acids was promoted by FCF treatment.
  • FCF improved colonic histopathology and intestinal barrier function.
  • Serum lipopolysaccharide levels were reduced, indicating decreased gut permeability.
  • Neuroinflammation was suppressed by inhibiting glial cell activation and TLR4/NF-κB signaling.
