Whole-body glucose metabolism imaging in people with long COVID: the ERASE-LC trial plan

Abstract

The ERASE-LC trial aims to recruit 72 participants to assess the feasibility of remdesivir for treating long COVID.

  • PET/computed tomography scans will be conducted at baseline (day 11) and follow-up (day 55) for 20 participants.
  • The estimated effective radiation dose for the scans is approximately 22 mSv, with a maximum anticipated exposure of 31.2 mSv.
  • Dynamic scans will utilize the FlowMotion acquisition method on a Siemens Biograph Vision 600 scanner for 75-90 minutes.
  • Preliminary experiences indicate that participants tolerated the scan duration and positioning.
  • This protocol represents a novel application of whole body scans to evaluate long COVID and treatment response.
