Testing a French Version of the Mystical Experience Questionnaire Using Memory of Major Psychedelic Experiences from French Users

Data from 320 French individuals supports the French version of the Revised Mystical Experience Questionnaire (MEQ30) as a valid tool for measuring mystical experiences.

• The original four-factor structure of the MEQ30, which includes mystical, positive mood, transcendence, and ineffability, best fits the data.
• Total MEQ30 scores correlate strongly with subjective ratings of mystical and drug intensity-related experiences, but not with non-mystical qualities.
• MEQ30 scores significantly predict positive changes in psychological well-being and connections with self, others, and nature.
• Non-mystical and drug intensity-related qualities show weak or no association with these positive changes.
