Abstract

A total of 35 studies were identified that evaluated the effects of (GQD) and its constituents on diabetes management.

  • GQD, berberine, and puerarin may improve blood glucose control in individuals with diabetes mellitus.
  • GQD and berberine could significantly reduce total cholesterol, total triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein levels.
  • Intervention with GQD and berberine may also increase high-density lipoprotein levels.
  • The efficacy and safety of GQD and its constituents for managing remain debated.
  • High-quality primary studies are needed to provide a clearer understanding of the effects of GQD and its main components.
