Abstract

Gegen Qinlian Decoction (GQD) significantly improved insulin resistance, fasting blood glucose, and glycated hemoglobin in 3247 patients across 42 randomized controlled trials.

  • GQD demonstrated a standardized mean difference (SMD) of -1.24 for insulin resistance, -1.15 for fasting blood glucose, and -0.67 for glycated hemoglobin, all with P < 0.001.
  • The optimal treatment duration for GQD was identified as 8-12 weeks based on subgroup analysis.
  • Molecular docking studies indicated strong binding affinities (binding energies of -7.5 to -9.1 kcal/mol) between GQD's key compounds and SIRT1/AMPK pathway proteins.
  • The safety profile of GQD was favorable, showing no significant difference in adverse event rates compared to control groups (RR = 1.15, P = 0.34).
  • Most reported adverse events were mild gastrointestinal issues, and no serious adverse events occurred, indicating good tolerance among patients.
