GLP-1 and dual agonists linked to new cases of doctor-reported sleep apnea in real-world patients

Updated

Abstract

Essence

GLP-1 and dual agonist initiation was associated with fewer new physician-reported sleep apnea diagnoses in patients with obesity and/or type 2 diabetes.

Evidence

The evidence is a retrospective propensity-matched TriNetX electronic-record cohort with 1,253,188 matched patients and 1044 days of follow-up.

Caveat

The outcome was physician-reported sleep apnea identified from ICD-10 codes, so the study cannot confirm undiagnosed disease or prove causality.
