Activating GLP-1 Receptors Increases Activity-Based Anorexia in Mice

Updated

Abstract

GLP-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists may influence weight loss and activity levels in anorexia nervosa.

  • GLP-1R agonists are known to reduce food intake and body weight.
  • Preclinical findings suggest that these drugs could decrease activity and reward-seeking behavior.
  • There is a possibility that GLP-1R agonists may reduce compulsive-like hyperactivity associated with activity-based anorexia.
  • The effects of GLP-1R agonists on weight loss and hyperactivity in a rodent model of anorexia nervosa are being investigated.
