Long-Term Compared to Short-Term GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Use and Metabolic Health in Older Adults Without Diabetes

Updated

Abstract

Changes in body mass index (BMI) categories were compared after sustained versus minimal exposure to glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) in older adults with obesity.

  • Sustained exposure to GLP-1 RAs is associated with changes in BMI categories among older adults with obesity.
  • Minimal exposure to GLP-1 RAs may result in different BMI category changes compared to sustained exposure.
  • A secondary aim is to assess changes in glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) categories based on paired measurements.
