Gene and metabolite networks linked to GLP-1 receptor drugs and related hormone pathways in heart and metabolism health

Updated

Abstract

Essence

This suggests GLP-1 receptor agonist pathways are network-linked to cardiometabolic, cardiovascular, liver, and metabolic mechanisms beyond glucose control.

Evidence

A gene-metabolite network analysis of GLP1R, GIPR, GIP, and GCGR found 130 shared genes and enriched disease and pathway terms, with stronger heart-disease associations than sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors.

Caveat

The findings are computational pathway associations, not direct clinical evidence that these networks cause better outcomes in patients.
