Abstract

Semaglutide 2.4 mg/week resulted in the greatest BMI reduction in adolescents with obesity.

  • Liraglutide 3.0 mg/day also improved BMI in adolescents and younger children.
  • In youth-onset type 2 diabetes, liraglutide 1.8 mg/day and dulaglutide significantly improved HbA1c compared to placebo.
  • Weight-reducing agents enhanced insulin resistance and modestly reduced triglycerides, while changes in LDL-cholesterol were minimal.
  • Gastrointestinal side effects, primarily nausea and vomiting, were common but generally transient and dose-dependent.
  • No significant adverse effects on growth or puberty progression were noted.
