Starting GLP-1 Treatment with FreeStyle Libre Monitoring May Give More Benefits Than GLP-1 Treatment Alone

Updated

Abstract

HbA1c reduction was 2.43% greater in the GLP-1+FSL group compared to the GLP-1 group in the unmatched cohort.

  • Individuals with type 2 diabetes using GLP-1 RA along with FreeStyle Libre (FSL) experienced a greater reduction in HbA1c compared to those using GLP-1 RA alone.
  • In the unmatched cohort, the GLP-1+FSL group had an HbA1c reduction of -2.43%, while the GLP-1 group had a reduction of -1.73%.
  • In the matched cohort, HbA1c reduction was -2.43% for GLP-1+FSL compared to -2.06% for GLP-1 alone.
  • Greater HbA1c reduction with GLP-1+FSL was observed across various insulin treatment levels and with different types of GLP-1 RA medications.
  • These findings indicate a potential additional glycemic benefit when combining GLP-1 RA therapy with FSL in adults with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
