Variations in the GLP-1 Receptor Gene and Their Links to Metabolism in Children and Teens

Updated

Abstract

Rs6923761 genotype GG is associated with a 0.16/year faster BMI growth velocity at age 10 compared to minor allele carriers.

  • Rs10305420 and rs6923761 are linked to growth and metabolic traits in youth, while rs1042044 is not.
  • Carriers of the rs6923761 GG genotype showed a significantly higher average BMI by age 16, with a difference of 1.29 compared to others.
  • Genotypes CC of rs10305420 and GG of rs6923761 are correlated with increased insulin resistance, as indicated by higher HOMA2-IR values.
  • The rs10305420 CC genotype is associated with greater insulin secretion levels at both 30 and 120 minutes during an oral glucose tolerance test.
