Anti-inflammatory effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor activators

Updated

Abstract

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) may alleviate inflammation-related diseases.

  • GLP-1RAs are associated with signal transduction across various tissues due to widespread receptor expression.
  • In addition to metabolic benefits, GLP-1RAs could have anti-inflammatory effects.
  • Potential diseases that may benefit from enhanced GLP-1 signaling include cardiovascular disorders, metabolic associated steatohepatitis, neurodegenerative illnesses, arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
  • The findings suggest a broader clinical application of GLP-1RA medications for inflammatory conditions.
