  • Propagation of α-syn pathology may enhance glymphatic function, indicating a compensatory response to increased α-syn aggregate load.
  • Acute inhibition of glymphatic function significantly reduces the brain-to-CSF clearance of misfolded α-syn.
  • Chronic treatment with glymphatic inhibitors exacerbates α-syn pathology, cerebral atrophy, and motor behavioral deficits in mice.
  • Glymphatic dysfunction is associated with impaired clearance of toxic proteins, which may contribute to the progression of Parkinson's disease.
  • Dysregulation of the AQP4 complex could play a role in glymphatic impairment related to neurodegenerative diseases.
