Abstract
This study examined body composition changes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treated with sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs).
- SGLT2i and GLP-1RAs may improve glycemic control in patients with T2DM.
- These treatments are associated with weight loss.
- The effects of SGLT2i and GLP-1RAs on the balance between skeletal muscle and fat mass remain unclear.
- Further research is needed to fully understand treatment-associated changes in body composition.
