Using targeted nanoparticles to deliver HGF and IL-22 mRNAs for treating sudden liver damage

Abstract

Delivery of HGF/IL-22 mRNAs using GalNAc-modified lipid nanoparticles increased protein expression in the liver by 121.0%.

  • HGF and IL-22 mRNAs were encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles modified with N-acetylgalactosamine.
  • The modified nanoparticles effectively targeted liver cells, overcoming barriers caused by liver injury.
  • The combination of HGF and IL-22 mRNAs significantly reduced liver necrosis and inflammation.
  • Treatment promoted the regeneration of liver cells and improved overall liver function.
  • The findings suggest a synergistic effect between HGF-driven cell proliferation and IL-22's anti-inflammatory properties.
