Abstract
In 2023, the Ketamine Infusion Pain Program (KIPP) was formally established at Toronto Western Hospital to provide high dose ketamine infusions for refractory pain syndromes.
- Ketamine is administered intravenously at a dosage of 0.5 mg/kg as a bolus, followed by an infusion of up to 1 mg/kg/hr for six hours.
- The program incorporates multidisciplinary services, including psychology support aimed at education and post-ketamine integration.
- Data is being collected on pain, psychological factors, sleep, and functioning before and after high dose ketamine infusions.
- Future plans involve refining dosing protocols, exploring co-administration with other medications, and enhancing support services.
