Abstract

DMT significantly reduced broadband connectivity metrics, including segregation and efficiency, in posterior and frontoparietal regions.

  • DMT is associated with reduced alpha and beta band connectivity as measured by weighted symbolic mutual information.
  • Four complexity measures were analyzed, with Lempel-Ziv-Welch and permutation entropy showing increased complexity in beta/gamma bands under DMT.
  • Emotional arousal as indicated by the beta-to-alpha ratio increased in response to DMT.
  • Frontal alpha asymmetry, associated with well-being, also increased under DMT, correlating with perceived intensity.
  • These findings suggest that DMT may induce greater neural unpredictability and emotional arousal.
