Creation and description of mice with human-like CD4 immune protein

Abstract

The human CD4 knock-in (hCD4 KI) mouse model exhibits a dosage-dependent impact on T cell populations.

  • Heterozygous and homozygous hCD4 KI mice showed a decrease in CD4+ single-positive cells in the thymus.
  • An increase in CD8+ single-positive cells was observed alongside the decrease in CD4+ cells.
  • Similar alterations in T cell populations were noted in the spleen and peripheral blood.
  • Despite these immune changes, hCD4 KI mice maintained normal biological characteristics and functions.
  • The model may serve as a valuable tool for studying interactions between CD4 and MHC class II.
