Blood Sugar Lowering Potential of HuGLP-1 in Bilosomes for Managing Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract

Bilosomes were developed with a size of 197.96 ± 0.61 nm and a polydispersity index of 0.191 ± 0.01.

  • The surface charge of the bilosomes was measured at -27.63 ± 1.02 mV.
  • In vitro release studies indicated a sustained release of HuGLP-1 over a 24-hour period.
  • The release of HuGLP-1 from bilosomes followed a Weibull release kinetics model.
  • Significant hypoglycemic effects were observed with HuGLP-1-loaded bilosomes compared to both oral and subcutaneous HuGLP-1 solutions.
  • Histopathological evaluations showed improvement in the liver, kidney, and intestines after treatment with HuGLP-1-loaded bilosomes.
