IcoSema's role in weight loss and blood sugar control: A review and analysis

Updated

Abstract

IcoSema lowered HbA1c by 0.74 percentage points compared to basal insulin alone in two phase 3 trials with 1,776 participants.

  • IcoSema reduced body weight by 5.15 kg and significantly decreased the rate of clinically significant or severe hypoglycaemia compared to basal insulin.
  • When compared to semaglutide alone, IcoSema lowered HbA1c by an additional 0.44 percentage points but resulted in a 4.54 kg increase in body weight.
  • IcoSema demonstrated non-inferiority for HbA1c when compared to daily basal-bolus insulin while reducing body weight by 6.72 kg and hypoglycaemia rates.
  • The effects of IcoSema vary depending on the treatment it is compared to, with significant differences observed in glycaemia, weight, and hypoglycaemia.
