Abstract

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is associated with significant weight loss and potential remission of type 2 diabetes in patients with severe obesity.

Significant weight loss occurs in patients undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
Improvement in type 2 diabetes mellitus is observed post-surgery.
Some patients may experience remission of type 2 diabetes following the procedure.
Enteric hormones play a role in both initial outcomes and the long-term progression of the disease.
