Insomnia, Nightmares, and Thoughts of Suicide in College Students
Updated
Abstract
Both nightmares and insomnia symptoms were related to suicidal ideation among 583 undergraduate students.
- Nightmares and insomnia symptoms were found to be related to suicidal thoughts independently of each other.
- After accounting for anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms, only nightmares remained associated with suicidal ideation.
- The findings suggest that nightmares could play a significant role in identifying suicidal thoughts.
