Online thinking and behavior therapies for adults with PTSD

Updated

Abstract

The analysis included 10 studies with 720 participants assessing Internet-based cognitive and behavioral therapy (I-C/BT) for PTSD.

  • I-C/BT may be associated with a clinically important reduction in PTSD symptoms post-treatment compared to wait list control.
  • No significant difference in PTSD symptoms was found when follow-up was less than six months.
  • I-C/BT may lead to a clinically important reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety post-treatment.
  • Participants receiving I-C/BT reported better PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms at six- to 12-month follow-up compared to immediate post-treatment.
  • There was no evidence of a difference in dropout rates between I-C/BT and wait list groups.
