Improving online therapy for adults with emotional disorders using real-time mood tracking and support: Plan for a trial with the 'My EMI, Emotional Well-being' app

Updated

Abstract

Thirty adults with emotional disorders will participate in an open trial to evaluate an app-based system for personalized interventions.

  • Around 40% of patients with emotional disorders may not respond to traditional psychological interventions.
  • Ecological momentary assessments (EMAs) could help tailor treatments based on patients' daily progress.
  • The app will provide personalized interventions in real-time while participants engage in an online transdiagnostic treatment.
  • Primary outcomes will include app usability, acceptability, and participant response rates.
  • Secondary outcomes will assess changes in depression and anxiety severity at multiple time points.
