Engineered immune cells targeting IL-13 receptor for repeated aggressive brain tumors: lab tests and early human trial

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Intrathecal CRISPR-edited allogeneic IL-13Rα2 CAR T cells showed early safety and antitumor signals in recurrent high-grade glioma.

Evidence

This report combines preclinical characterization with a first-in-human, single-center, open-label phase I trial of MT026 in five patients given 1.0-3.0×10^7 cells per dose.

Caveat

The clinical evidence is very preliminary because enrollment stopped after five patients and there was no control group.
