Injecting LATS1 mRNA with lipid nanoparticles into the eye as a potential treatment for uveal melanoma

Updated

Abstract

Essence

LATS1 mRNA delivery via SM102 lipid nanoparticles emerged as a preclinical way to suppress uveal melanoma growth.

Evidence

Cell experiments plus an orthotopic uveal melanoma mouse model tested LATS1 overexpression, in vitro transcribed LATS1 mRNA, two lipid nanoparticle formulations, and intravitreal SM102-LNP delivery.

Caveat

The evidence is limited to uveal melanoma cells and mice, with no human safety, dosing, or durability data.
