Combining targeted drug therapy and light-activated treatment with tiny verteporfin particles for effective uveal melanoma care

Updated

Abstract

HANP/VP significantly inhibited tumor growth in a uveal melanoma mouse model after laser treatment.

  • HANP/VP demonstrated a stronger inhibitory effect on cell proliferation in uveal melanoma cells compared to free VP.
  • Systemic delivery of HANP/VP resulted in targeted accumulation in tumors in a mouse model.
  • Photodynamic therapy with HANP/VP led to a significant reduction in tumor growth after laser irradiation.
  • After treatment with HANP/VP, levels of tumor proliferation and Yes-Associated Protein (YAP) decreased.
  • Treatment with HANP/VP increased levels of apoptotic tumor cells and CD8+ immune cells.
