How Different Konjac Glucomannan Intake Patterns Affect Blood Sugar and Fat Metabolism in Obese Mice on a High-Fat Diet

Updated

Abstract

Any type of konjac glucomannan (KGM) intake can reduce body weight, fat mass, lipid levels, and insulin resistance in obese mice.

  • KGM intake is associated with alleviating liver damage and inflammation caused by obesity.
  • KGM sol (KS) shows the most significant effect on controlling blood glucose and blood lipid levels in obese mice.
  • All KGM intake patterns increase the diversity of intestinal microflora in high-fat diet mice.
  • KS may increase levels of appetite hormones GLP-1 and PYY in mice.
  • KGM intake is linked to up-regulating specific mRNA expression and increasing production of short-chain fatty acids in the intestinal flora.
