How Lifestyle Coaching Styles Affect Patient Participation and Weight Loss in UK Non-Diabetic Patients Using a Semaglutide Digital Weight Loss Program

Updated

Abstract

Patients receiving proactive and personalised lifestyle coaching sent a statistically higher number of messages to their health coach (Mean=19.37) compared to those with reactive and standardised coaching (Mean=8.55).

  • Patients in the proactive coaching group opened the program app more frequently (Mean = 49.31 days) than those in the reactive group (Mean = 40.06 days).
  • Mean weight loss after 16 weeks was 10.1% in the proactive group, while it was 8.9% in the reactive group, though this difference was not statistically significant.
  • Female patients tended to lose more weight (Mean = 9.76%) compared to male patients (Mean = 6.88%).
  • Proactive, personalised coaching is associated with better patient engagement but does not correlate with improved short-term weight loss or program adherence outcomes.
  • The cohort's mean weight loss is comparatively higher than findings from previous real-world studies on semaglutide.
