A low-reaction mRNA vaccine reveals an immune pathway linked to side effects
Updated
Abstract
Essence
IL-1 signaling was linked to LNP-mRNA vaccine adverse reactions without appearing necessary for neutralizing antibody responses.
Evidence
Mechanistic mouse-model immune profiling and in vivo blockade studies were paired with a controlled human vaccine cohort measuring IL-1 pathway activation, fever severity, and neutralizing antibody titers.
Caveat
The human cohort supports correlation, while pathway causality and selective reduction of adverse reactions were mainly tested in mice.
