Updated
Abstract
The prevalence of isolated hypercholesterolemia was 34.1% in men and 37.3% in women among hypertensive adults in rural China.
- Isolated hypercholesterolemia was the most common lipid abnormality identified in the study.
- Mixed dyslipidemias occurred in 14.3% of the sample, making it the second most prevalent condition.
- Isolated hypertriglyceridemia was found in 5.6% of participants, while normotriglyceridemic hypoalphalipoproteinemia and severe dyslipidemia were less common at 2.0% and 3.3%, respectively.
- Diabetic patients exhibited a higher prevalence of isolated hypertriglyceridemia, mixed dyslipidemias, and severe dyslipidemia compared to nondiabetic patients.
- Obese men showed increased prevalence of mixed dyslipidemias and hypertriglyceridemia/hypoalphalipoproteinemia compared to men of normal weight.
