Weight Loss Effects of Liraglutide and Semaglutide in the Middle East Gulf Region Compared to Other Studies

Updated

Abstract

A total of 366 patients were analyzed, with no significant difference in weight loss between liraglutide and semaglutide.

  • Liraglutide and semaglutide both resulted in weight loss after treatment, but the weight loss was not statistically different between the two drugs.
  • The median weight loss for liraglutide was -4 kg, while semaglutide achieved a median weight loss of -3 kg.
  • Semaglutide was associated with a greater reduction in HbA1c levels compared to liraglutide, with reductions of -0.5 versus -0.2, respectively.
  • Both drugs significantly reduced levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • Factors such as baseline weight, diabetes, and the use of SGLT2 inhibitors were significant in influencing weight outcomes.
