Long COVID and Sleep Health Nearly 3 Years After COVID-19 Infection

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Long COVID was prospectively associated with shorter, poorer, and more disturbed sleep up to nearly 3 years after SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Evidence

This population-based Michigan cohort study followed 2,406 adults with COVID-19 and modeled sleep duration, quality, and moderate-to-severe disturbance at about 1.5 and 3 years after infection.

Caveat

Long COVID was defined by self-reported recovery time of 90 days or more, and the cohort design supports prospective associations rather than proof that Long COVID caused the sleep outcomes.
