Long-term changes in liver gene activity and metabolism in mice fed a high-fat diet
Updated
Abstract
Over 24 weeks, 332 genes were identified as responsive to a high-fat diet in mice.
- Mice fed a high-fat diet developed early signs of obesity-related issues, including fatty liver and insulin resistance.
- Alterations in glucose-regulating enzyme activity and gene expression occurred early in high-fat diet-fed mice.
- Accumulation of fatty acids and triglycerides, along with inflammatory changes, may contribute to insulin resistance in the liver.
- Cidea was identified as a representative gene associated with the metabolic changes observed.
