Short-term effects of low-dose tirzepatide on blood fats, blood sugar control, and liver fat in adults with obesity without diabetes

Abstract

After 12 weeks, body weight decreased by 8.1% in adults with obesity but without diabetes mellitus receiving low-dose tirzepatide.

  • Significant reductions were observed in total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting plasma glucose, and glycated hemoglobin.
  • Changes in glycated hemoglobin and hepatic steatosis index correlated with weight loss.
  • No significant effect on high-density lipoprotein cholesterol was noted.
  • Baseline levels of metabolic parameters were inversely associated with the observed changes.
  • Statin use did not influence the outcomes of the study.
